Sailors often make idle chat, speculating about the origins of the monsters that hunt them at sea. Are there merely fish that outgrew their surroundings? Have otherworldly beasts crawled through a crevice at the bottom of the ocean? Did a careless wizard create them from combining different animals out of boredom? Perhaps it is their end that should be contemplated, not their beginnings.
